Luiz Augusto Gomes Varjão Filho is a passionate advocate for immigrant rights and an emerging talent in the field of immigration law. As a multilingual Brazilian attorney with over a decade of experience in the legal field, Luiz brings a cross-cultural perspective and an unwavering commitment to justice for vulnerable communities navigating the U.S. immigration system. His work has focused on representing asylum seekers, children eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and family based-applications—particularly those from Latin America and Lusophone countries.

Before relocating to the United States, Luiz practiced law in Brazil, where he developed a strong foundation in legal analysis, client advocacy, and litigation. This international background has enriched his approach to immigration law and deepened his understanding of the global challenges his clients face.

Luiz earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis, School of Law (King Hall) in 2023. He also trained under renowned immigration law scholars Amagda Pérez and Holly Cooper as a student attorney at the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic, where he developed strong litigation and advocacy skills.

After graduating, Luiz relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he joined Aldea – The People’s Justice Center, a nonprofit organization committed to providing high-quality legal representation to immigrants. There, he served first as a law clerk and then as a Staff Attorney, contributing to complex humanitarian cases and advancing the organization's mission of legal empowerment and community-based justice.

Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and French, Luiz is deeply rooted in both Brazilian and American legal systems. In every role, he has demonstrated a steadfast dedication to immigrant communities and a thoughtful, client-centered approach to advocacy. He now aims to expand his practice and continue building a career defined by compassion, excellence, and meaningful impact.

Beyond his legal work, Luiz has a deep appreciation for the arts. He is an avid partner social dancer, enjoys playing the guitar, and loves poetry. Always eager for new challenges, he is currently learning Russian as part of his commitment to lifelong learning and cultural connection.
